Goodbye to pants!

My dear roommate, friend and brilliant writer Abby recently recruited me to join her in No Pants April. For the whole month, we will be wearing just dresses and skirts. No pants (except when exercising). I'm excited to start- wearing pants for the past three days has been torture. Okay, not torture but I always feel cuter in a dress.

Also, a very good things happened today! Caroline and I found a dog today named Bolt. While we were sitting on the roof of judgment, a dog ran up in our yard and we chased it down. Poor little guy kept running in front of cars. So for an hour, 208 had a dog and it was wonderful.

Irrelephant

I saw this on a blog yesterday and it has made me chuckle ever since.

Overalls? YES please.

Ever since fifth grade, I've been waiting for overalls to come back in style. Now that day is finally here! I was looking at Gap's product book at work the other day and was surprised to see them in the summer line. Now J.Crew has a pair online. It appears that farm-wear is making an oddly feminine comeback.

Story time invitations.

I admittedly read wedding blogs. A couple of days ago I saw this wedding invitation on The Cinderella Project and loved it a little bit.

I want her hair.

I love She & Him. Their music sounds like cotton candy tastes. Maybe that's not such a good thing but I enjoy it anyway. The music video for "In the Sun," one of the songs on their new album that comes out next Tuesday, is making me crave long hair. Zooey just flips hers around- makin' me all jealous!

Besides that, their album covers are the best. I'd probably buy them even if I didn't like the music.

Liberty of London

Last year, I convinced my parents that I needed a bike. I chose one solely on appearance and to date, I have ridden it approximately 3 times since last September. I told my parents having a bike would help me save a lot of gas money but I'm fairly sure that I've saved less than $2 with it.

Either way, that hasn't stopped me from wanting this cute little guy from Target. It would look so good in the spring time! It's from the Liberty of London line at Target. If you find joy in colors and patterns, you might get a euphoric high just from looking at all of it.

Finnigan's Wake

208 celebrated St. Patrick's Day a little bit early. On Saturday, 4/7 of the house went to a bar called Finnigan's Wake in Winston-Salem (or "the dash" as some people call it). Probs won't do it again next year but it made for some fun stories.

We watched Irish dancers (the little girls in the picture are beginners and so cute), ate Irish food and listened to AMERICAN music. Well, I guess there were some bagpipes and kilts. We managed to keep our sanity there for 11 hours before calling it quits and heading back to Danielle's house to watch Michael Flatley's "Lord of the Dance."

The next morning, rhythm knocked and Danielle and I answered. Our intentions were to do some morning yoga before heading back to Chapel Hill but we ended up grooving to some motown classics. We used some of the tricks we learned from Michael Flatley the night before. Our St. Patrick's Day spirit is through the roof!

This was probably my favorite outfit of the week.

Gray ankle booties
Yellow skirt
Black and white checkered skirt

Skeleton key necklace

Spring Capsule Wardrobe Challenge

So I read about this Spring Capsule Wardrobe Challenge and decided to give it a go. The object is to wear just 10 pieces of clothing (clothes, shoes, outerwear) and 5 accessories (bags, jewelry, scarves) for 5 days. I though it would be a piece of cake but turns out, it wasn't!

My 10 clothing items:
1. Khaki jacket
2. Black and white checked button-down
3.Black skinny jeans
4. Yellow skirt
5. Gray pocket t-shirt
6. Black elbow length t-shirt
7. Slouch boots
8. Ankle booties
9. Converse sneakers
10. White cardigan

My 5 accessories:
1. Skeleton key necklace
2. Blue and white scarf
3. Black floral headband
4. Black and tan tote bag
5. Green scarf

Also, I guess I should go ahead and apologize for the awkward pictures that are going to ensue with this little project. Apparently 10 seconds is not enough for me to get ready for the camera.

The weekend's here!

As a result of only having classes two days a week, I permanently feel like I'm either coming or going from the weekend. I go to class at 9:30 on Tuesday mornings which marks the end of my weekend but it begins again every Thursday at 3:15. You can be envious...it really is the life.

Last weekend I went to the beach for a girls weekend with a few friends. It was a perfect weekend filled with lots of sleeping, a few walks on the beach, shopping and dining. Everywhere we went there were groups of women (mostly older) who looked like they were enjoying the same type of getaway.
