Thank You Notes

I thought this blog is an incredible idea when I saw it on A Cup of Jo. I love a good (thank you) note.

This weekend, Abby and Guion got married. I don't think I've ever seen two people more radiant and joyful than they were on Saturday. Watching gorgeous Abby beaming as she walked down the aisle to marry Guion somehow gave me a lot of hope.

With their beautiful wedding over and everybody moving away from Chapel Hill, this note seems particularly relevant. It was hard to say goodbye to the friends who came into town for the wedding and I'm sure it won't get any easier in the next couple of weeks.

Pack up, I'm straight.

Lately I have been craving a good getaway. I think the closest I'll get to that anytime soon is hanging up a map of the world in my bedroom.

I can't stop thinking about Spain. I don't know much about it but I want to go and that's enough.

I'm tired of making to-do lists even though I find they are necessary. Maybe I'll start a never-to-do list that will include going to the tanning bed and using Vera Bradley items.

My striped wishlist.

* These stripes are for swimming.

* These stripes are for walking.

*These stripes are for carrying everything.

*These stripes are for doing anything.

*These stripes are for when sunglasses just don't cut it.

*These stripes are made to spruce things up.

*These stripes are made for sleeping.

Dessert for Dinner.

A few of us went back to Orange Leaf today and got some frozen yogurt for dinner to celebrate Meller's last night in Chapel Hill.

It's hard to decide what to get there but I finally settled on chocolate, cheesecake and peanut butter yogurt. Then I topped it off with Fruity Pebbles, brownies and strawberries. The first bites were delicious, the last were highly questionable. Maybe I won't be so brave in my mixing next time.

7 days.

In the past week, I have...

* graduated college
* moved into a closet
* gone to the beach
*enjoyed a rum and coke float
* gotten sunburned
* gone to the zoo with kindergartners
* learned 3 chords on the guitar
* gotten yogurt at Orange Leaf
* been tackled to the ground
* listened to O-Town, LFO, B*Witched and N'Sync albums in their entirety
* saw a woman who looked like the perfect combination of Shaun White and a who
* tried sushi
* said even more good-byes
* sniffed Icelandic volcanic ash
* not made a single list

What an unexpected whirlwind of a week.

#14. Get a college degree

I graduated this weekend. Twice, actually. Now I can cross if off my bucket list.

I'm not sure if I like being a college graduate yet, so far it has only consisted of saying goodbyes. Part of me feels accomplished and the other feels like I went to a giant funeral.

John Grisham spoke and gave a most non-traditional motivational speech, if it can be called motivational at all. After saying "Of course the future is yours, nobody else wants it," he went on to give us a couple bits of advice. The first being that we should call our parents often and the second that we should all read at least one book a month. Ironic coming from an author, eh?

Carrboro Farmer's Market

Abby, Danielle, Meller and I ventured to the Carrboro Farmer's Market today. Danielle and I had never been but what a treat it was! Abby and I enjoyed blueberry muffins while Danielle and Meller scoped out all the flowers and fruit.

We saw this man at one of the booths and if he isn't a legit farmer, then I don't know who is.

I need to work harder at remembering that no matter how nice it is outside, I am not done with exams. If you see me out having fun, you should remind me of this fact.
