It snowed! And for real this time. Enough to keep me and all the housemates cozied up for the past 2 days in our house. Enough for a substantial amount of people to put the title of this post as their Facebook status. Enough for the mall to be closed so I didn't have to work!

Yesterday, we woke up to pancakes courtesy of Meller and then went on a walk around campus taking pictures. We even got onto the field in Kenan Stadium! While exploring we met this photographer, Jason Arthurs, who snapped some shots of us playing on the field. Later he told us that he's working on an article for the NY Times. Here's the link to see some of his photography. I always knew my 15 minutes of fame would happen...

I just can't get over how great a good thick layer of snow looks on (almost) everything. For that matter, I can't believe how snow makes everyone go a little bit crazy. Just to give you an idea of it all, a guy skiied down the street in front of our house yesterday!

If only...

Muffins Part 2

Today I was feeling particularly domestic and decided to have round 2 with my heart-shaped cupcake pans. So I threw on an apron and got to baking! Last time I made blueberry muffins that ended up a little bit green and a lotta bit weird. My choice today was banana chocolate chip.

After mixing the batter (from a box, of course) and mashing a banana to throw in, I popped the little guys in the oven. Only after I took them out of the oven did I remember that I didn't put a vital ingredient in: the eggs!

Luckily, the banana seem to have saved the day and unlike last time, the muffins actually looked like hearts instead of oddly shaped pointy tumors. I kept the egg absence a secret until after they had eaten one just to see if anyone noticed. They didn't.

Now there's only 3 muffins left. All signs lead to call this batch a success!

blue bricks.

There are a lot of things I'm going to miss about being a Carolina student. Today reminded me of how nice it is to just enjoy the campus. When I was a freshman, my friend Meredith introduced me to her favorite spot at UNC and it quickly became mine too. Sitting under the bell tower today and reading was perfect.

I love the blue bricks on the inside of its roof. And when I was a freshman, I loved to escape from the dorm life and study there because it felt like the only place on campus that wasn't packed with people. During sophomore year, my friends and I met there for Bible study when the weather permitted. I think it's the most lovely place in Chapel Hill.

Currently I'm in the daunting process of figuring out what happens post-May. Since I'm not applying to UNC for grad school, it's doubtful that I'll be able to just hang out there as much as I'd like. Hopefully wherever I end up will have a place with Carolina blue bricks lining the roof.

Make me laugh.

One of the joys of this semester so far has been that my amount of free time has grown immensely. Having only 3 classes on 2 days each week makes life a little bit better, though I wouldn't mind spending more time on campus since it's my last one here at UNC.

With my free time one afternoon this week, I read the book "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. The format of a book is Q&A where a male and female writer give their opinion of different dating scenarios. I think the book is even funnier than the movie but it had one of the saddest quotes I've ever read.

A chapter in it was on how to deal with a guy who just disappears instead of breaking up with you and to this, the woman responded with "Breakups are horrible. But to me, what's truly devastating is to feel like you weren't even worth a breakup. " Interesting, indeed.

FYI: I'm fairly sure this book has no real knowledge for people who aren't out on the "dating scene."

A good one.

Highs of the day:
- sleeping in
- getting my fav drink at Caribou (a cold press iced coffee with white chocolate, in case you were wondering) and reading before class
-having only one class
-getting an email from a teacher who claimed that he was having a "devil of a time" posting our syllabus because his internet was patchy since he was in a boat on the Amazon River
- watching 4 straight episodes of Gossip Girl with Guion and Abby
- going to dinner with other friends
- reading with Abby while curled up on the couch
- finding the cutest sticky note pad and heart-shaped cupcake pan at Target
- having (almost) nothing to worry about

Low of the day:
- making muffins in my new heart-shaped pan that ended up looking/tasting weird and setting off the smoke detector

After a 2 month hiatus...

For the past 3 weeks of winter break, I have done a lot and nothing at the same time. I watched my best friend get married and officially felt like a young woman instead of a little girl. I then spent most of the remainder of my break shopping with my mom, hanging out with friends and doing things that I always want to do but rarely have/make the time for. Although I have never been a fan of New Year's resolutions, I may have made one: to do less planning and more "funning."

So tomorrow marks the first day of my last semester of undergrad (FDOC as we pros like to call it). Before the general stress of a new semester begins, I decided to snuggle up on the couch with one of my favorite friends and do absolutely nothing. This is what became of my night!
